Let me tell you about BackPage

In 2004, I came up with this big idea of having a TV program wherein I get to interview Oregon authors. I decided to call the show BACK PAGE because sometimes, when you flip to the back page of a book, you can find out some scoop about the author, and maybe even a little about the motivation behind the story. ‘Lo and behold, it has come to pass! I have been sitting down each month and taping interviews with some of the most interesting people and finding out more than they probably thought they were going to tell me in the first place – not only about what they have written, but what they are working on now and, most importantly, why they do what they do at all!

Interviewing great writers

This 30-minute program aired for 300 episodes across the state of Oregon into Washington on Oregon Public Broadcasting, Oregon WIN (Oregon Wireless Instructional Network). Check your local listings for times and channels. The Pacific Northwest is a literature-loving part of the country, so we are blessed, not only with people who love to read, but who also love to write – and they do it very, very well. Craig Lesley, Melinda Pittman, Tom Spanbauer, Carmen Bernier-Grand, Marc Acito, Judith Barrington, Molly Gloss, Larry Colton, Geronimo Tagatac, and former Governor Barbara Roberts were just a few of the many fine authors we’ve been privileged to have on the show.

Authors interviewed about a breakthrough safety book

Scott Burr and Brion K. Hanks have written a book with author Dayna Hubenthal about how to reduce accidents in the construction industry to zero. "Safety Under Construction" shows how safety can become the leverage point for zero-harm and improved profits, schedule and productivity. Serious accidents can be a thing of the past if you use process, science, and innovative thinking. We stilll have accidents becuase people believe it is inevitable. It's not.
